Program Description
The Ouachita River Expedition (1804-1805) was the first American government-sponsored exploration of the southern portion of the Louisiana Purchase. In this talk, Andrew Milson, historical geographer and author of Arkansas Travelers: Geographies of Exploration and Perception, 1804-1834, describes what William Dunbar and George Hunter encountered as they explored the world of the Ouachita in the winter of 1804.
This program is part of the Park Chats collaborative series between Garland County Library and Hot Springs National Park, and can be attended in-person or watched via livestream on the Library’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/user/GarlandCoLibrary or the Garland County Library Facebook page.
