Horror Movies 101 - The 80s

Program Description

Greetings, all you boils, ghouls, and non-boo-nary folks! If you've ever wanted to dip your toe into the murky waters of horror movies but didn't know where to start, this program series is for you - though seasoned horror hounds are welcome as well, of course! Each week in October, we'll be showing a different landmark horror film along with a brief presentation about that movie and its place in the horror canon. Popcorn, snacks, and drinks will be provided!

This week, we're highlighting the horror boom of the 1980s. We could've gone with one of the Big 3 Slashers - Freddy, Jason, or Michael. We could've gone with a schlocky zombie movie featuring 80s punk fashion. But instead, we're going with a 1987 vampire movie set in Southern California that just screams "The 80s" more than almost any other movie of the time. It's so 80s, it stars actors from The Goonies and Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure!

Registration Recommended. Movie is Rated R.
