Program Description

Are you fascinated by the intricacies of criminal investigations, the psychology of perpetrators, and the chilling realities of true crime stories?

Join the library's True Crime Book Club for an exploration into the captivating and often unsettling world of real-life crimes. We'll delve into a variety of true crime narratives, from infamous cases and unsolved mysteries to in-depth investigations and survivor stories.

Step back into January 1981, when a series of brutal murders rocked the quiet communities along the Arkansas River. Anita Paddock, often called the “Grandma Moses of True Crime,” brings a unique perspective to this case, as she lived in the area and had personal connections to the victims and investigators. We will discuss the chilling nature of the crime spree involving newlyweds Larry and Jawana Price, businessman Holly Gentry, and Detective Ray Tate, while examining Paddock’s "kitchen table" storytelling style.

True Crime Book Club meets the first Saturday every other month. Copies of each selection are available for checkout at the library.
