Program Description
Are you fascinated by the intricacies of criminal investigations, the psychology of perpetrators, and the chilling realities of true crime stories?
Join the library's True Crime Book Club for an exploration into the captivating and often unsettling world of real-life crimes. We'll delve into a variety of true crime narratives, from infamous cases and unsolved mysteries to in-depth investigations and survivor stories.
While we all know the ending of the story—the shot at Ford’s Theatre—James Swanson’s Manhunt reveals the parts of the history we weren't taught in school. We will trace the hour-by-hour pursuit of John Wilkes Booth through the swamps of Maryland and the forests of Virginia. This discussion will focus on the "what-ifs" of history, the mechanics of a 19th-century manhunt, and the fascinating, flawed figures who either aided Booth’s flight or dedicated their lives to his capture.
True Crime Book Club meets the first Saturday every other month. Copies of each selection are available for checkout at the library.
