Program Description
Join us for a discussion of the fictional town of Mitford, North Carolina. At Home in Mitford is the first in the Father Tim series by Jan Karon. This cozy fiction book introduces us to Father Tim Kavanagh, an Episcopal priest in his sixties who lives a quiet, predictable life caring for his parish and community.
Father Tim’s routine begins to change when two unexpected arrivals enter his life: a lively, mischievous boy named Dooley Barlowe, who needs guidance and stability, and Cynthia Coppersmith, a warm and independent neighbor who sparks a late-in-life romance. As Father Tim helps the people of Mitford through their joys, struggles, and secrets, he also confronts his own loneliness, fears, and hopes for the future.
