Program Description
Ready to explore new worlds and perspectives without leaving town?
Join the Have Book, Will Travel adult book club at the library! We're a friendly and enthusiastic group of readers who love to embark on literary adventures across a diverse landscape of genres and themes. From thrilling mysteries and thought-provoking historical fiction to heartwarming contemporary stories and insightful memoirs, our selections will take us on journeys both real and imagined.
Join us for a discussion of Percival Everett's thought-provoking James a reimagining of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn—told from the perspective of Jim, the enslaved man at the heart of Twain’s classic. Set in antebellum America, James follows Jim’s perilous journey toward freedom after learning his wife and daughter have been sold. As he flees down the Mississippi River, he’s joined by Huck Finn, a boy escaping his own troubled life. Together, they navigate a landscape fraught with danger, deception, and moral complexity.
Have Book, Will Travel meets the first Saturday every other month. Copies are available for checkout at the library.
